Located in Paris at the heart of Europe's largest hospital complex, the Pitié-Salpêtrière, the Institute of Myology was established in 1996 under the initiative of an association of patients and their families, AFM-Téléthon.
Its goal is to promote the existence, recognition, and development of myology as a distinct discipline. Whether healthy, ill, injured, athletic, or aging, muscle—on which our activities and vital functions depend—has become a true model of innovation for scientific and medical research.
The Institute of Myology coordinates comprehensive patient care, fundamental research, applied research, clinical research, and education. It is an internationally recognized center participating in numerous clinical trials and studies, primarily focused on neuromuscular diseases, as well as muscle injuries related to high-level sports or aging.
