PHD Training

The overarching aim of ENTRY-DM doctoral network is to provide top-level training to a new generation of high- potential doctoral candidates (DCs) in a crucial field of today’s society: the development of effective therapies for rare diseases. In this training through research, DCs will focus on oligonucleotide-based solutions for myotonic dystrophy (DM), hence establishing a solid framework to treat other RNA-mediated diseases, for which DM is the prototype. ENTRY-DM hereby addresses the EU Partnership on Rare Diseases (2024) and the International Rare Diseases Consortium Initiative, launched by the EC and the NIH (2011). Both identify rare diseases as a strategic aim to improve the life of patients, through precise diagnoses and new therapies developed by comprehensive, multidisciplinary and innovative research programs, with the participation of all relevant stakeholders. ENTRY-DM involves an intersectoral consortium of 9 academic and 2 non-academic (NA) partners from 6 countries, with close links with patient associations and other stakeholders. The success of the program is guaranteed via state-of-the- art research, intersectoral secondments, international mobility and interdisciplinary training.

Training will cover not only scientific techniques but also soft skills such as communication,   interpersonal skills, problem solving, creativity, etc. Also, key ideas and concepts on Ethics, Gender, Sustainability and RRI are included in the training program.
